roundabouts and restaurants
Spent the weekend in Bristol with the gymnastics club. A rather big tournament, with lots of clubs attending so quite a lot of pressure on the gymnasts to do well. The 9 yr old has a bundle of gold medals at home so am not feeling the stress really. We set off with one of the other Mums and her child, who have come to support. The first day is spent supporting the other competitors and generally catching up on the gossip from the other parents. Pretty uneventful day. Get to the hotel, check-in and realise we can't get into the restaurant as we haven't made a booking. Not to worry- a huge retail park down the road with restaurants galore. Off we go, approaching one roundabout- take the first exit, another roundabout take the 2nd exit, another roundabout, take the 3rd exit, another roundabout- you get the jist!! Boy do they love a roundabout in Bristol.. Finally we park up and take a few minutes to decide from the plethora of eateries where to go.First choice sorry that will be a 45 minute wait, hungry gymnasts, hungry mothers- we go to the second choice, an hour wait, third choice, 45 minute wait, 4th choice, no room at the Inn!! 40 minutes later we end up with a bargain bucket in KFC, with a side order of some rather pungent beans, which by that time was worthy of 3 michelin stars in our book. Yes we know if we had just taken the fiurst choice we would have eaten at the same time.... hindsight a truly wonderful thing.
